SYDNEY — The last of three Cape Breton women in the Ms. Health and Fitness 2023 contest is out.
Savannah Silver, 37, made it to the semifinal round of the online voting contest which started out with more than 28,000 competitors.
However, the nurse didn't get enough votes to move to the final round and finished in eighth place in the semifinal round.
Formerly of Sydney Mines and now living in Fort McMurray, Alta., Silver entered the contest last year and made it to the top five in the group round, which is one step before the semifinal round.
On her Facebook page, Silver said she is proud to have made it as far as she did and thanked everyone who voted for her.
"Although I was sad when I realized I wouldn’t be moving into the finals, I am happy because it showed me how supportive my little community can be," Silver posted on June 29.
"The majority of my votes came from Cape Bretoners, and when I think about how small a place/population it is, it really makes me proud they have gotten me this far. Competition started with 28,050 girls. I am lucky to have made (it) to the semifinals. (You) can take the girl off the island, but it will always be home in my heart."
Two other Cape Breton women also competed in the Ms. Health and Fitness 2023 contest: Charlotte Pearson of Sydney and Mya Sack of Eskasoni made it to the top five in the group round.
